Here are some troubleshooting steps that can be used with network cable unplugged
Powercycle external device (modem, bridge, etc.) if present:
- turn off those devices for atleast 30 seconds and see what happens Is cable connected:
- pretty boring question. It doesnt only apply to the one that is connected to your computer though, check also the one that is going to the wall! Is LAC Enabled:
- Enable those LAC! Are NIC LEDs On / Activity:
- there are cables that doesnt have LEDs, so dont make hasty decisions! Reseated Cable:
- unplug/replug cable Switched ends of cable:
- from the one in the wall to the one in the computer. The old switcharoo. Switched NIC to 10/Half:
- to get there, go to the properties of your LAC -> click on configure -> Advanced Tab -> look for speed and duplex and changed the 'Value" to 10/half duplex or Autonegotiation Tried 2nd cable: - go get another cable!
